About Garrett
Garrett's musical path began at the age of 14, when he discovered a passion for the guitar and became a self-taught enthusiast. What started as a personal pursuit soon grew into a lifelong dedication to the instrument. Driven by a thirst for deeper knowledge and technical skill, Garrett sought out formal lessons and immersed himself in the study of classical guitar. This pursuit of excellence culminated in a period of study with world-renowned guitarist Denis Azabagic, whose mentorship Garrett credits with his most significant musical and technical growth. The transformative nine-month experience under Azabagic’s guidance opened new artistic horizons for Garrett, shaping his approach to the guitar and elevating his musicianship to new heights.
This period of growth led to Garrett’s acceptance into Julian Gray’s esteemed studio at the Peabody Conservatory, where he further honed his craft under the guidance of another accomplished and internationally recognized musician. Through his studies and rigorous training, Garrett developed both as a performer and an educator, gaining invaluable insight into the art of musical expression.
Garrett's musical journey spans over 18 years, during which he has dedicated much of his career to serving the elderly and memory-impaired communities. His commitment to bringing music to senior living spaces has been a cornerstone of his work, with performances designed to uplift and connect through the power of music. In addition to his meaningful work with senior communities, Garrett has had the honor of performing at some of the most prestigious and historic venues across Maryland and Virginia. These include the Peabody Library, the William Paca House in Annapolis, the Virginia Theological Seminary, Glenview Mansion, and the Clifton Mansion..
Since graduating in 2017, Garrett has focused on sharing his artistry with a diverse range of communities. He has taught nearly 100 students from all walks of life, fostering a love for music in learners of all ages. Garrett views musical performance not as a career but as a life of service—his performances are meant to inspire, heal, and connect with his audience on a profound level. Whether performing for intimate gatherings or large celebrations, his mission remains the same: to give his absolute best and make a meaningful impact through the universal language of music.
